We couldn’t be more different when it comes to our stories within the church. Bill did not want anything to do with the church until he and his wife, Emily, had their daughter. Only Emily’s desire to have their kids go to church, and them together as a family, led Bill to church and to him becoming a Christian. Matt grew up in church. He was there just about every time the doors were open. He became a Christian at an early age and has pretty much been in the church since he was born into it.
Our time in church may look very different, but we see a lot of the same issues that need to be addressed. We see a lot of areas where the church has gotten off track and can improve in reaching people and getting their message out. We also see a lot of the same misconceptions people have about the church that may keep them from not giving the church a fair chance.
At Simplifying Jesus, we take Bill’s Outside Looking In and Matt’s Inside Looking Out perspectives to talk about these issues and how we can ALL be part of the solution.
